The promise

Blízko k sebe. Bližšie k tebe.

slovaci.at connects Slovaks in Austria with people, places, stories and opportunities to meet.

The experience should answer one emotional question: “Can I see myself here?”

Typography

Bricolage Grotesque gives headlines a chunky, playful personality. Keep navigation and utility text in a friendly, highly readable sans-serif. The contrast should feel expressive in the hero and calm everywhere else.

Logo exploration

One mark, three directions.

Wordmark signature: blue s with red dot

Wordmark signature

The simplest version: a blue s with the red signature dot. Closest to the current wordmark.

Community badge: white s inside a blue circle with red dot

Community badge

A confident blue circle with the red dot. Strong at small sizes, but slightly more app-like.

Brand principles

Design the feeling first.

Make people feel at home

slovaci.at should feel like a friendly place to arrive—not an official institution. Use warmth, breathing room and familiar language before adding more information.

Be quietly proud

Use Slovak-inspired blue and red with restraint. The design may carry identity without becoming a flag, a souvenir shop or a formal government portal.

Keep the community alive

The page should feel active and social. Let words move, let windows light up, and make events feel like invitations to meet real people.

Speak like a person

Prefer short, warm sentences over institutional explanations. Invite people in. Avoid jargon, overpromising and language that makes newcomers feel like outsiders.

The central message

One sentence, many ways to belong.

Doma je tam, kde

.som.si.ste.sme.sú Slováci

The red dot comes before the changing word, echoing the wordmark slovaci.at. There is no trailing punctuation after the rotating ending.

Page experience

A place to arrive, explore and meet.

Header

Keep the navigation simple: slovaci.at, Podujatia, Inzercia and Vstup. The blue wordmark is the anchor; the single red dot is its small human signature.

Hero

Lead with “Blízko k sebe. Bližšie k tebe.” and the living sentence “Doma je tam, kde [token]”. The changing ending should feel like different people completing the same thought.

Vienna and belonging

Use hand-drawn Viennese rooftops and Stephansdom as a place people can recognize. Routes and glowing windows suggest that everyone arrives by a different path and finds connection in the same city.

Events

Make the next opportunity to meet obvious. Show dates, places, people and registration status. “Stretnime sa.” should feel like a genuine invitation, not an agenda.

Footer

Close with a calm portal-like overview: newsletter, classifieds, links, articles, associations, members and social media. Useful, structured and quiet.

Content voice

Warm, direct, inviting.

Use

„Spoznaj ľudí. Zdieľaj zážitky. Doma v Rakúsku.“

„Stretnime sa.“

„Spoznávaj“

Avoid

Long institutional explanations.

Cold calls to action and insider language.

Overloaded pages, generic stock imagery and decorative noise.

Quick rules

If in doubt, make it more human.
